The very first time I had this a month ago, I had to get use to the texture. Now it's just like real jerky, but I've been a Vegan since around 2010. The only down side is the price, so when there's a big sale, buy in bulk! ;-)

I recently took unisoy teriyaki and pineapple-habernero jerkies with me on my 15 hour hike to the top of Half Dome (5,000 feet elevation gain) and back down the most trail. I hiked nearly 20 miles and had to have the strength to pull my body up the cables (and back down) half dome. The protein and calorie intake (with proper hydration) was essential for a hike of this magnitude.
